What Is the AUSL All-Star Cup?

The AUSL regular season may be over, but the softball? You’ve got an extra month of ball on deck. The next phase of pro play is here — it’s fast, strategic, and totally unpredictable. Welcome to the AUSL All-Star Cup.
This isn’t your typical All-Star event with flashy intros and chill vibes. The All-Star Cup is four weeks of playoff-intensity competition, with 60 of the league’s best players battling for one thing: the top spot on the leaderboard.
Let’s break down how it works — and why you’ll want to tune in.
Weekly Redrafts = Total Chaos (in the Best Way)
The AUSL format flips everything you know about team sports. There are no permanent teams. Every single week, the top four players in the standings become captains, and they redraft brand new rosters.
Teammates from last week become opponents this week.Lineup consistency? Doesn't exist. And yes, that means you might see someone in four different uniforms over four weeks.
Captains also help make decisions in-game and during practice, alongside a team facilitator. It’s a leadership test, not just a skills contest.
Points, Not Wins, Decide the Champion
Instead of a playoff bracket or series win, the leaderboard is everything. It updates live during every game and tracks three types of points:
- Win Points: Players earn points when their team wins an inning (+10) or a game (+70). Tied innings roll points to the next.
- Stat Points: Everything from singles to strikeouts is tracked. A home run is +40. Pitchers get +4 per out, and -10 for every earned run.
- MVP Points: After each game, players and fans vote. The top three earn between +20 and +60 points. A separate Defensive MVP (+20) can also be awarded if enough players vote.
At the end of the Cup, the player with the most total points wins it all. And it normally comes down to the wire.
How the Draft Works
After each weekend’s final game, the top four players in the standings are named captains for the next week. Each is assigned a color based on rank:
- Gold (#1)
- Orange (#2)
- Blue (#3)
- Purple (#4)
Drafts are structured, timed, and fully strategic — and captains can consult coaches, staff, or players before making a pick.
Where and When?
The 2025 All-Star Cup runs from August 2 to 31, with stops in:

What Makes the All-Star Cup Different?
This format rewards more than just stats — it’s about consistency, adaptability, leadership, and game-changing moments. Players don’t just have to perform — they have to adjust to new teammates weekly, step up in pressure situations, and win over their peers and fans with every rep.
It’s not just about one team rising — it’s about one player proving they can rise no matter what team they’re on.
The Takeaway
